Big Green Bananas proudly presents the Pittsburgh premiere of “Stories,” she wrote; an evening of 4 new one act plays directed by Kim El and Delilah Picart. The production runs from September 14-16, 2017 at Bricolage’s Theater, 937 Liberty Avenue. Tickets are now on sale at brownpapertickets.com. Doors open at 7:30pm, showtime is 8pm. On Friday, September 15th, ASL interpreters and an Audio Describer will be available at no additional cost for patrons requiring accessibility services. “Back in NYC, my uncle would collect a few playwrights, add some directors and throw in some actors to create a showcase,” says Big Green Bananas founder Delilah Picart. “I wanted to create that same excitement here in Pittsburgh.” The ensemble cast represents an array of diverse actors from Pittsburgh, featuring Lewis Braham, Brittany Boyd, Emilia Brewer, Richard Eckman, Delilah Picart, and Dionysius Westbrooks. The first play, “Marlene” by Eva Lopez, directed by Kim El, is about a woman who visits her aunt in Spanish Harlem and is met by an unexpected friend. In “Pop’s Core”, written and directed by Delilah Picart, a male nurse talks about his relationship with his patient who suffers from Alzheimer’s Disease. In “Nerd’s Nightmare”, written and directed by Delilah Picart, a mother confronts her preteen daughter about questionable, possibly offensive material found on an iPhone. The final play written by Delilah Picart, “Moment to Arise”, directed by Kim El, is about a woman with developmental disabilities and her sister’s obligation after their mother dies. “I want people to forget politics for a little while, and feel with their heart,” explained Ms. Picart. “I hope people can have conversations with each other about these stories. ” “Stories,” she wrote runs 75 minutes, without intermission.
