11/18/2017 @ 8:00pm - 12:00 AM McGonigle Theatre, Central Catholic High School, 4720 Fifth Avenue, Pittsburgh, PA 15213
The musical partnership between consummate performer Alasdair Fraser, "the Michael Jordan of Scottish fiddling," and brilliant Californian cellist, Natalie Haas, spans the full spectrum between intimate chamber music and ecstatic dance energy. For over 16 years, they have set the standard for fiddle and cello in traditional music, thrilling international audiences with their virtuosic playing and the joyful spontaneity of their music. Fraser has a concert and recording career several decades long, with an extensive list of awards, radio and television credits, and feature performances on top movie soundtracks. In 2011, he was inducted into the Scottish Traditional Music Hall of Fame. Haas is one of the most sought after cellists in traditional music. She has performed and recorded with a who\'s who of the fiddle world including Mark O\'Connor, Natalie MacMaster, Irish supergroups Solas and Altan and Jeremy Kittel. According to The Scotsman, "Fraser, one of the most respected of all exponents of the Scots fiddle, would look long and hard to find a more appropriate cellist as a partner...A positive joy." The Fraser and Haas concert is part of the 11th Annual Balmoral Classic, a weekend event that features the US Junior Bagpiping and Scottish Snare Drumming Championships, which will be held earlier that day. $25 Advance \/ $35 Door Students w\/ID | Seniors 65+: $15
