Creative Life Support Records Launch Party

3/16/2019 @ 5:00 pm - 12:00 AM Mr. Smalls Theater

Creative.Life.Support Records will be hosting its inaugural launch party this upcoming March 16th at Mr. Smalls Theatre. Showcasing a wide variety of independent talent from across the Pittsburgh area, the event will accentuate the immense talent that can at times be overlooked in the underground art scene of the city. Owner\/operators, musicians, and husband and wife team, Mike Speranzo and Liz Berlin, have dedicated their lives to recording, promoting and presenting local music. Their decades long work has so far resulted in the successful projects Mr Smalls Theater, the Funhouse at Mr Smalls, Mr Smalls Recording and Mastering Studio, the promotions company Mr Smalls Presents. Now, it is with great excitement, they are thrilled to announce that their educational non profit arm, Creative.Life.Support, which conducts We Rock Workshop, a musical program for Allegheny County Foster Youth, and the summer program Real Life Music Camp, is being more fully realized as a record label “Creative.Life.Support Records”. Performances from the Creative.Life.Support Records label include the indie-psych-rock band Drowning Clowns, Liz Berlin Band, MC’s Big Jus and Streetwalker, and the Liz Berlin band. This celebration is highlighted by the forthcoming world wide digital release of Social Justice Disco’s album “Songs to Fight Fascists By”, which takes a stand on numerous social justice issues prevalent in today’s society. What began as a cynical April Fool’s joke has emerged three years later as a full-length project and features dozens of Pittsburgh’s most talented musicians, activists, and special guests. Additional special Social Justice Disco guest performers will include Pittsburgh jazz favorite Phat Man Dee & The Cultural District, Geña, Steeltown Horns, Lita D’Vargas, Maria Hamer, Johnny Creed Coe & Family, poets Christina Springer and Leslie Ezra Smith and Pastor Deryck Tines and Lemington Gospel Chorale. With the launch of the non-profit label, Creative.Life.Support Records, comes the birth of a true artistic outpost for the best of Pittsburgh’s talent. Liz Berlin and Mike Speranzo are Records are thrilled to announce they are working with David Hillis, who is best known for engineering Pearl Jam’s multi- platinum Ten LP, Temple of the Dog, Alice in Chains\' Would?, Sap EPs, and The Afghan Whigs farewell record 1965, as well as songs on Cameron Crowe’s Singles soundtrack and a Dennis Leary HBO Special. Hillis is also a respected recording artist and had a recording contract with Island Records for his band Sybil Vane. Forging together staples on the Pittsburgh art scene, this gifted collective of artists have largely been operating below the surface, coming together to culminate in a new age of music for the Steel City. The longstanding impact that Creative.Life.Support Records will have on the Pittsburgh community will be significant, and is only just beginning.
