Angelo M.
www.first-unitarian-pgh.org
11-06-10 to 11-06-10
First Unitarian Church of Pittsburgh, 605 Morewood
412.337.1594
When the steel mill where he worked went bankrupt, taking his pension with it, Angelo M. tossed his hard hat, picked up his guitar and made the unlikely transition from steelworker to touring artist. Angelo’s a performing songwriter and virtuoso finger style and slide guitarist/Dobro player with a blues bent in the vein of Chris Smither. Soulfully sung and at times autobiographical, his songs are seasoned with experience and retrospection. Angelo’s music has garnered recognition in the prestigious Mountain Stage NewSong contest and Billboard's song contest, and his debut CD received airplay across the US and abroad. “Steelwork,” his newest CD, is following suit, reaching #23 on the FolkDJ Top Albums list, with “That Train” hitting #4 on the FolkDJ Top Songs list. Show begins at 7:30 p.m. Suggested donation: $15 general admission/$10 students.
